26 Studio in Raumati South is a compact new three storey building carefully designed to make the most of its small footprint and minimise the maintenance. Exterior fibre cement panels are finished in Resene AquaShield tinted to Resene Half Pravda (sober beige) complemented by exterior steelwork finished in Resene Uracryl tinted to Resene Cuban Tan (coffee bean) and Resene Vindaloo (red ochre) for maximum durability, especially important in areas close to the sea.

Resene AquaShield is a high mineral content super-hydrophobic, water repellent coating for application on most porous building materials to impart watershedding properties. It combines the water repellent properties of silicones with a special surface microstructure considerably reducing the contact area for water and dirt, so dirt particles adhere loosely and are more easily, carried away by raindrops, leaving a dry and attractive facade. This is certainly proving to be the case with this building where the roller applied Resene AquaShield has considerably reduced dirt pickup.

The warm hues continue indoors complemented by the warm beauty of timber. Interior paperfaced plasterboard is finished in Resene SpaceCote Low Sheen tinted to Resene Merino (green off-white). Rather than opt for perhaps an expected feature wall, the doors are the feature, finished in Resene Whizz Bang (bright orange). The underlying warmth of this orange tone harmonises well with the interior plywood panels finished by speedbrush in Resene Aquaclear and the timber flooring finished in Resene Qristal ClearFloor 1K. The palette cools a little to the soothing hues of Resene Tapa (smoky grey neutral) and Resene Scandal (clean blue) in the bathroom. From top to bottom, inside and out, clever paint and coating selections bring out the best of the substrates and ensure they are well protected.
