Lattes line up with Big Macs - McDonalds McCafe
Fast-food giant McDonalds has developed a taste for real coffee served in cafe ambiance. McCafe opened last month in Auckland launching McDonalds into the cafe market offering lattes and long black alongside cakes and Danish pastries.

Situated in the former ASB Bank on Queen Street, the $600,000 refurbishment required the retention of its Victorian Italianate-style facade while the interior has been remodelled to the standard McDonald's specifications including a cafe bar.

Clever use of colour on the stone facade reinforces the overall strength of the building's historic character. The seven colours chosen of the exterior are Resene Echo Blue, Resene Slash, Resene Black Squeeze, Resene Ship Cove, Resene Ghost, Resene Santas Grey, and Resene Waterloo.

McCafe's exterior cladding was spot primed with Resene Sureseal on the crumbly stone areas and overcoated with Resene Sonyx 101.

In the foyer, a Resene Anti-Graffiti system was used comprising two coats of Resene Uracryl 403 while the rimu timber balustrading and trim have been sealed and overcoated in Resene Qristal Poly-Satin.
