From the Resene News – issue Winter 1999 Painted lady - Carncot Independent School The original circa-1900s two-storey building has been moved from the rear of the grounds to the roadside, providing an historical facade. It is fondly known as the"painted lady" - a term relating to her age, and ornate and decorative features, along with the vibrant and lively colour scheme. The project included eight large classrooms for primary to intermediate girls, and a circular two-storey stand alone building with a butterfly roof that houses the technology centre, library and art space. Somewhat futuristic in appearance, this new centre captures the imagery of the next century with its satellite appearance, which is enhanced by the use of Resene metallic finishes. A Metallic appearance has been achieved on the galvanised metalwork comprising a basecoat of Resene Epoxy primer followed by Imperite IF 503 tinted to Resene Blast Grey. .
