Submarine black - Art display in a shipping container
It’s not very often we get asked to recommend paint suitable for submerging a container. After all, most shipping companies prefer to keep their shipping containers well clear of the waterline.
Auckland City Council launched the Living Room public art event in an unusual manner. A shipping container filled with exquisitely rendered oil paintings of Professor Chos was submerged in the harbour before being lifted out and forming an exhibition space during the Living Room week. The idea being that the container travelled from Korea through the core of the earth to Auckland City.
Resene Environmental Choice approved paint in Resene Black was applied to the interior of the shipping container prior to its sea dip providing a striking backdrop for Chos’ work once it was back on dry land.
