Shorty comes
from a mixed creative background. With art and design being consistent
strengths and passions throughout school, she completed a Diploma of
Art & Design, studied a Bachelor of Spatial Design and then moved
onto a Diploma of Computer Graphic Design. After noticing more
and more art exhibitions around Auckland, Shorty was inspired to get
her work onto the art scene. Her first works were displayed in a 2003
show and the invitations to do further shows followed from there.
Over the years, Shortys style has developed and mediums have varied.
Her main medium is acrylic and ink on canvas/hardboard with a style
of pseudo pin-up/pop art graphics. Most recently she has experimented
with, and exhibited, stencil art. All of this creative work is combined
with work in the Graphic Design industry as a creative and more recently
work in the advertising industry as an art director.
Shorty uses an extensive range of Resene colours, chosen because the
colours are consistent and there is a huge durable colour range to choose
from. After years of using artist and student acrylics, she found
that Resene paints were much more reliable and would produce a perfect
finish every time. Her favourite Resene product is the Resene testpots
range, especially the warm hues from the Multi-Finish range.
