Resene kids art with Mark Rayner - Project 07

Difficulty level: Moderate

You will need: Green glitter, Paintbrushes, PVA glue, Resene Art Action Tempera in the following colours: Resene Black, Resene Cool Blue, Resene Cool Red, Resene Cool Yellow, Resene Light Green, Resene Orange and Resene Violet, Shoebox, Two smaller boxes, Two toilet roll tubes

Top tip: For extra sparkle decorate the top of the lid with more glitter and glue.

Here's another idea: Decorate a tin with testpots of Resene Alabaster and Resene Turbo for a real groovy pencil holder.

Step 1
Step one
Paint the inside of the shoebox with two coats of Resene Black and the sides of the box with two coats of Resene Violet. Once the paint has dried, paint the lid of the box with two coats of Resene Cool Yellow. Leave to dry.

Step two
Paint one of the toilet roll tubes with two coats of Resene Cool Red and the other with two coats of Resene Cool Blue, then paint one of the smaller boxes with two coats of Resene Light Green and the other with two coats of Resene Orange. Leave to dry.
Step 3
Step three
Using the PVA glue, stick the smaller boxes and toilet roll tubes to the inside base of the shoebox. Leave to dry.
Step 4
Step four
With PVA glue write ‘Art is Cool!’ on the inside lid of the shoebox and sprinkle with green glitter. Once the glue has dried, shake off the glitter to reveal the words underneath – how funky is that?
