Resene kids art with Mark Rayner - Project 94

Difficulty level: Moderate

You will need: Paintbrushes (including artists’ brushes), Resene Waterborne Smooth Surface Sealer, Resene paint tin (empty), Resene testpots in the following colours: Resene Alabaster, Resene Bowie, Resene Rocket and Resene Twentyfourseven, Sandpaper

Top tip: Use a selection of empty Resene paint cans to create a whole drum kit, and use a few large paint tin lids for cymbals.

Here's another idea: This spotty drum was painted with Resene Havoc, Resene Lucky Dip, Resene Sports Star and Resene Top Secret.

Step 1
Step one
Lightly sand the outside of the paint tin – this will roughen up the surface and help the paint to stick.
Step 2
Step two
Apply one coat of Resene Waterborne Smooth Surface Sealer to the outside of the paint tin and allow two hours to dry.
Step 3
Step three
Paint the sides of the paint tin with two coats of Resene Alabaster, allowing two hours for each coat to dry.
Step 4
Step four
Paint large triangles up the side of the paint tin, as shown, with two coats of Resene Rocket. Allow two hours for each coat to dry.
Step 5
Step five
Paint the top of the drum with two coats of Resene Twentyfourseven, allowing two hours for each coat to dry.
Step 6
Step six
Paint a star on the top of the drum with two coats of Resene Bowie, allowing two hours for each coat to dry.
