From the Resene News – issue 4/2006 Special treatment - Wickham House Five storeys of heritage deserving of careful preservation were coated in Resene Quick Dry followed by Resene X-200 waterproofing membrane, a sympathetic low sheen finish that helps to hide surface imperfections while imparting water resistance. Trims were finished in a complementary satin sheen with Resene Lumbersider satin acrylic. Three special colour matches Wickham Light, Wickham Beige and Wickham Dark Green were created for the exterior, a fitting scheme for the architectural style. The interior is home to an eclectic palette to suit the varied tenants, all coated in low odour Environmental Choice approved Resene Zylone Sheen satin acrylic and Resene Lustacryl semi-gloss waterborne enamel to minimise disruption to the daily operations of the building and its occupants. A grand old lady treated with care, retirement isn't on the cards for Wickham House. |

Over
a century old and a heritage listed landmark, Wickham House in Wickham
Street is dear to the heritage of Brisbane. In 1853, Captain J.C. Wickham,
a naval officer and explorer was appointed as Government Resident and
a number of locations and buildings were named in his honour in the
following years, including Wickham House.
