Systems in which SPs have been successfully used include: epoxy polyamine, polyamide and carboxy systems, polyester urethane, acrylic urethane, moisture cured urethane, aspartic ester urethanes, long medium and short oil alkyds, oxazolidone urethane, NC lacquers, acid catalysed alkyds, solventborne acrylics and vinyls, chlorinated rubber and chlorinated polyolefins.
Although designed for incorporation on standard paint shakers, the greater the shear that can be applied at the time of incorporation, the more uniform the colour with less chance of flooding or flocculation. Some high solids systems will definitely require greater shear than can be exerted by a paint shaker.
While SPs have been designed to achieve the broadest degree of compatibility, idiosyncrasies within any formulation can effect compatibility. We have long experience in recognising the causes of such problems and are able to help formulate around any issues that may arise.
The dispersing resins used are durable and inert, and generally will not detract from the paint properties. However, at use levels of greater than 10% by volume or in critical systems, solvent / chemical resistance testing would be appropriate.
Colour formulation data bases established with SPs can also be utilised with other Resene Total Colour Pastes.
