Resene/Your Home and Garden Colour Your Home competition - July 2002 winner
Ros and Maurice Limmer transformed their living room into a rich, intimate space and have won $500 in Resene paint vouchers for their creative ideas.

Undeterred by friends who thought a dark living room would be gloomy, Ros Limmer trusted her instincts and ordered Resene Aubergine for the walls of this space, then stood back to enjoy all the compliments. Not content to stop at the walls, Ros chose Resene Luxor Gold for the doors and painted two cabinets in half-strength Resene Putty for contrast.

An artwork, created from leftover customwood is painted in Resene Siren, Resene Axolotl and Resene Tom Thumb, with a terracotta pot and lamp base in Resene Sandtex Loulou.

Ros and her husband Maurice, a builder who does the painting, have had plenty of practice honing their creative talents in their Waitara, Taranaki home, where they have live for the 38 years of their marriage. Says Ros "Back then, everything was wallpapered. You didn't paint walls and you didn't use bright colours, and I love doing both. And with paint, you can easily change your mind."
