Background to mural creation:
Akitio School is a small
coastal school with a roll of 23 children. The mural is the result
of several units of studies that the children have completed.
They looked at the history of Akitio and have done water painting
sketches of distinguishing features of the area. Elements were
then selected from each design and incorporated into the mural.
