Corner table

Use bold Resene Black to give a new lease of life to a tired metal corner table.

Fun with furniture with Mark Rayner - Project 37

Difficulty level: Moderate

You will need: Clean cloths, Methylated spirits, Mineral turpentine, Paintbrushes, Resene Enamacryl tinted to Resene Black, Resene paint stirrer, Resene Rust-Arrest, Sandpaper.

To get the look: Mark painted the background wall with Resene SpaceCote Flat tinted to Resene Half Buttermilk.

Other ideas: For a fresh retro look, paint the table with Resene Enamacryl tinted to Resene Aqua.

Step 1

Carefully remove the table top and clean the glass with methylated spirits.
Step 2
Step two
Clean off any dust and dirt from the table with warm soapy water. Rinse with clean water and allow to dry.
Step 3

Lightly sand the table to remove the worst areas of rust and to ‘key’ the surface.
Step 4

Wipe off any sanding residue with a clean cloth.
Step 5

Carefully stir the Resene Rust-Arrest.
Step 6
Step six
Spot prime any remaining areas of rust with Resene Rust-Arrest and allow to dry. Wash the brush in mineral turpentine.
Step 7
Step seven
Apply one coat of Resene Enamacryl to the table and allow two hours to dry.
Step 8
Step eight
Apply a second coat of Resene Enamacryl to the table and allow two hours to dry. Replace the glass top.
