Surprise
With a first baby on the way the Turketos wanted a surprise at the end so didn't find out their baby's gender. Despite this, Kiri had firm ideas about the nursery - it had to be positive, uplifting and definitely kiwiana. Pastels and traditional boy/girl colours were banned. Growing up on the Northland coast, Kiri wanted to recreate a beach theme with native trees/plants and animals.

Resene paint used to create a bright baby's room.

On first look the room is painted as a sky in a base colour of Resene Morning Glory giving a very open spacious feel for such a small room. Thanks to a huge variety of Resene testpot colours and Kiri's artistry, Frida the cat hides in the grass, there is a seagull walking along the rocks, Nikau and cabbage trees decorate the walls and stars descend from the ceiling.

Kiri's husband used the leftover paint to paint the toybox in his favourite themes of space and rocketships (just in case it was a boy... never mind!)

As Kiri says "It's not a nursery, it's an experience" and Mia is the lucky little girl who gets to enjoy this room so thoughtfully created for her.

Thanks to Kiri Turketo of Auckland.
