Having
purchased their first home, which was built in the late 60s and
not decorated since, Jessica and her husband were eagerly anticipating
redecorating the interior to more closely reflect their tastes
and lifestyle. They started creating the master bedroom first
so that when redecorating the rest of the house they would have
a heavenly retreat to escape to.
The main challenge was that the room was originally an internal
garage. While the previous owners had converted it into a long
rectangular room by extending the garage out the front of the
house, unfortunately they had stopped there so the room was just
an empty box and not particularly functional. Aiming to convert
this room into a luxurious master bedroom, they first had to build
a wardrobe, plaster over the imperfections in the walls, carpet
the cupboard floor and replace the bamboo roller blinds with sumptuous
curtains - all this before selecting the paint colours.
The overall colour scheme for the room was picked from colours
in an existing couch. Resene Falcon was used on the walls and
wardrobe doors. To complement this Resene White Linen was used
on the ceiling, window frame and wardrobe interior.
