Your Home and Garden Resene Inspiration Gallery

Floor first
As part of a major renovation the bedroom floorboards had to be removed to be used elsewhere in the home and a new floor laid. There was no intention to decorate the whole room but the floor change led to a window being reduced, a wall and door being relocated and the wardrobe being moved and increased in size. As the structural work had been done and the room was very different from how it started, painting was a natural progression.

The Cooper family had a vague idea of the desired colour scheme after seeing a duvet for sale, but at a cost of $220, they decided they could make something similar so went and chose the paint colours to match.

The room is finished in Resene Wan White from the Resene Karen Walker chart with a feature wall of Resene Fireball.

To complete the room, the bedside cabinets were made and painted white, as were an old desk and chair. To tie them back into the room, touches of Resene Cranberry and Resene Fireball were added. Other smaller accessories were painted in the same manner. A new pendant light, spotlight over the desk and drawer, and door knobs were added in a brushed chrome finish. Finally the duvet cover was made using two flat sheets, orange and pink fabrics and ribbons and even with pillowcases to match it cost a mere $34!
