DIY delightThree years ago, the Davies family bought a 1920s villa in the outskirts of Blenheim. The property was mostly in its 'original' condition and was a 'DIY delight' - it didn't even have electric hot water. In a major renovation of the house a palette of Resene Sweet Corn, Resene Havelock Blue, Resene Sensual Red and Resene Quarter Spanish White was used. The renovation continued into Chelsea's room with a variety of fun colours to create an original bedroom for their first child. Inspired by the vibrancy of the primary colours they created a playroom using the unique combination of Resene Bright Red, Resene Lochmara, Resene Turbo and Resene Japanese Laurel. The colours were painted in a warm-cool-warm pattern to maximise the overall effect. The ceiling was created using Resene Pixie Dust as a feature design with a skylight. The area was always destined to have glow-in-the-dark stars on the ceiling and when they saw Resene Pixie Dust they knew it would be the perfect backdrop. The frame design is also practical as one of the corners is the manhole access to the ceiling space.
The new look room is lauded by all, including Chelsea. Inspiration gallery 2005
