| Last minute Her first step in deciding on a colour scheme was to stand across the road from her home and stare at it to get some idea of what colours might fit with the environment. Surrounded by two large eucalyptus trees, flax, various coloured cabbage trees and red brick houses flanking either side, she decided on natural greens and browns to blend with the surroundings and to link with the interior finished in Resene Tana and Resene Half Tana.
The exterior colour scheme was kept to a simple palette of four colours to emphasise the simple and clean lines that she loves about the home. The main house was finished in Resene Linen, the base, handrails and terrace in rich Resene Soya Bean, the roof, front door and garage door in Resene Karaka for emphasis and the windows in Resene Alabaster for a fresh touch. The finishing touch is the little gnome perched upon the roof, who has been located in that position since 1949 and is now resplendent in Resene Diesel, Resene Flame Red and Resene Alabaster to keep him protected for many years to come.
