As part of the renovation of the White house, the main bathroom
had a wall moved to increase the size of the room, one window
removed and another enlarged. Ceiling and wall linings were removed
and the Rimu tongue and groove flooring was lifted to allow for
plumbing and electrical work. Once the floor had been re-laid
and polyurethaned, the coving was put up and the fun began!
A new spa bath, toilet and shower were installed but Deanne couldn't
find a vanity exactly like the one she'd drawn. Her husband, a
builder, came to her rescue and created a custom made vanity for
her. White ceramic tiles were chosen to go halfway up the walls
and they were capped with a glass mosaic tile in silver. Being
neutral this allows for the wall colour to be changed in years
to come without having to change the tiles. Having collected so
many 'beachy things' and blue being Deanne's favourite colour,
Resene Icebreaker was chosen for the walls. A true blue, it looks
wonderful under various lights and fabulous with the Rimu floor
and white ceilings and trim.
