Sue's striking bedroom feature wall was inspired by the colours
in polished Paua shells.
The project involved the bedroom renovation of their Foxton Beach
house. The feature wall was divided into four abstract shapes
in a criss-cross pattern using a strip of laminated Paua as the
border between the colours.
The Resene Enamacryl Metallic range of paints gave the depth
of colour required and with the metallic particles rising to the
surface when dry, the effects both during the day and night are
stunning.
The colours used were Resene Time Warp, Resene Zodiac, Resene
Axis and Resene Lucifer. The wall was prepared and taped off with
plastic sheets to protect the individual colours. Each colour
was applied first by roller then by spray. The remaining walls
are painted white.
The Paua strips were provided by Ocean Shell of Riverton. After
outlining their ideas via email Ocean Shell laser cut the strips
and delivered them to Sue ready for application.
