Resene rainbowThe Rameka family love colour and with all their efforts, their home is fast becoming a 'Resene Rainbow' as they get stuck in to giving it a fresh, colourful lick of paint. They moved into their home a couple of years ago, and were instantly keen to make their own mark - with limited funds. So along came their blackboard/magnetic wall, a perfect way to add some of their own style to the kitchen/dining area without having to completely do it up. It is loved by the entire family and used constantly. Before she became a Mum, Marina was a Primary School teacher with a passion for drawing blackboard murals, so she loves having this wall at home to continue her passion. The wall was created with basecoats of Resene Magnetic Magic topcoated with Resene Blackboard Paint, with Resene Viking on the magnetic square. The girls love making their mark also, as well as using the magnetic square piece to play with. The best thing is that it is an everchanging piece of artwork. But it’s also practical for list making, reminders, hanging kid's art on, and even visitors seem to like to leave unique drawing and messages. It’s been an absolute hit with countless peoplewho ask how they did it and what they used. An underwater cave was the inspiration for three year old daughter Kiana's bedroom. They selected jewel like colours, with every wall being painted a different Resene colour. A huge feature of Kiana's bedroom, is her 'wave wall', where they painted a series of koru like waves, that get softer in colour as they travel up the wall. 'Giddy Giraffe' painted up the gorgeous bedroom furniture using some of the Resene colours they were incorporating in the room, and they also used Resene testpots to paint the handcrafted accessories made for her room. Kiana adores her bedroom, she loves being a 'Mermaid Princess' in her underwater cave, and, at night especially, her bedroom has a real magical cave like feel to it. Resene colours used include Resene Curious Blue and Resene Alabaster (on the wave wall), and Resene Shocking, Resene Studio and Resene Viking, with Resene Sisal on skirting boards and doors. Nature and butterflies inspired them to select fresh lime greens and pinks for baby Aria's bedroom. They wanted a distinctly different vibe to her big sister Kiana's room, opting to have a Resene Alabaster wall as a feature that they covered with a flurry of butterfly wall decals. Once again they chose to have every other wall speak on its own, with a Resene Pink Panther wall, a Resene Dizzy Lizzy wall and a Resene Ballerina wall. Aria is now 17 months and adores her bedroom - it is a vibrantly fresh and girly haven, that almost has a glowing effect when you enter it. And the last riot of colour is the rainbow of Resene testpots Marina used to paint the toybox. It’s now bright and colourful – a drawcard to all children that visit.
