Redoubt retreat

This home on Redoubt Road, Manukau was a long time dream for the owners. This was the first time they had an architectural and interior designer team working together to create a home.

With a strong focus on blending the house with its surrounding native bush environment, bringing the outside in was the inspiration for the neutral colour palette. This is emphasised by the bark like texture of the Resene Vision Wallcoverings Thatch 21921 on the tall entry wall giving visitors the feeling of walking through a tree trunk to enter the house. The wallpaper also features on the wall behind the master bed.

The Resene range of neutral colours proved to be the most neutral (in hue) on the market. The colours have been used to clearly define different areas and create a warm, inviting and relaxed home.

The pool room/office uses a combination of Resene Stonewall and Resene Zeus to create a ‘men’s zone’, warm and strong to accommodate the competitive spirit of in house pool competitions.

The family room uses Resene Coriander to absorb the sunshine and create a light fresh place to sit and catch up with family. This colour is found in the floral couch, which is a family favourite and was the basis for all other furnishings in the room.
