“Resene Pink Ribbon has been described as a seriously feminine and rich pink colour.  The colour pink represents caring, compassion and love, and is also associated with hope.  It is a positive colour that evokes warmth and comforting feelings, all of which are aspects that have inspired me.

I wanted to design something that portrays the elegance and complexity of the female figure, using structural techniques to make the garment look empowering and something people can wear with the same level of confidence.

The idea of a ribbon is that it ties together and holds something in place, while adding strength yet still falling gracefully and looking delicate.  I have used this concept with my top, as it is very structured and fitting but flows down from the waist line. The thickness of a ribbon determines a level of control and strength.  I chose to incorporate a thick ribbon to represent power and strength as these are the qualities I would want to be conveyed by whoever is wearing these garments.

Overall my design is quite feminine and flowy, with structural elements, similar to a ribbon.  It gives the perception of elegance and sophistication with a hint of flirtation.
