“Coming into FashionTech I had a goal to represent my iwi and to make them proud of the work that I am doing.  I believed that the best way to do this was to incorporate as much of my own Maori heritage into my Resene project as I can.  Therefore with my striking blue, aptly named Resene Moana my mind jumped straight into wanting to include my own Moana, Tikapa.

As a child I grew up in own whenua of Hauraki and within close proximity to Tikapa, the Hauraki Gulf, which I want to showcase by bringing in natural elements from the marine that calls Tikapa home.

I want to use features from the sea-life, such as the short and long tail string rays, which are native to the area, the hammerhead sharks and blue sharks.  I would also like to address the issue of overfishing in our waters.”
