“As humans, we ruin everything we touch, including each other.

The bright green colour, Resene Wham, describes a dramatic and sudden occurrence. In the last year we have all experienced the sudden and unstoppable event of the world changing and altering beyond our control and for some, have been left divided and wounded.

This garment is inspired by Mother Nature fighting for a new, better world and is taking back what is rightfully hers and she will not stop until peace is restored. She has arisen more fierce and powerful from the chaos that continues to fill our world. She is envious of those who have already found their peace which urges her to work even harder.

My design represents the rebirth of a stronger world where we don’t dwell on mistakes and our past choices but instead encourage growth and accept our decisions, whether they be right or wrong. I drew inspiration for this design from the idea of ‘life after death’ and that beauty can be accompanied by empowerment.

I wanted to take a step away from the dominant nature loving theme that comes with the colour green and explore the darker, hidden themes that people are reluctant to talk about. This does not replace the positivity with negative themes, if anything, it is more appropriate as it shows that power and beauty can be drawn from many other aspects of life.”
