“For as long as I can remember I’ve always viewed the world we live in as fast paced.

On my morning walks I see businessmen rushing to meetings and stressed baristas just trying to get through the busy line of customers.

I’ve always just seen this as just being a part of life; everyone has obligations and expectations to meet each day in order to keep this world turning, but I’ve always questioned, how much are we missing because of this?

For years many of us have put our personal needs on the backburner in order to keep our busy lives going.

As hard as it was being in isolation, for me, and many others I’ve spoken to, it gave us much needed time to reflect and relive old childhood hobbies, but most importantly relearn that sometimes we just need to live life slowly and calmly.

I came out of isolation with a new appreciation for life. Instead of rushing my walks to and from my course, I now stop and listen toe the buskers and talk to my barista who makes my coffee every morning.

My colour ‘Wishlist’ instantly gave me this sense of calm, the light blue hue reminded me of old renaissance paintings of skies, clouds and angelic figures. These paintings matched the feelings I described after leaving isolation perfectly.

I’ve incorporated the paintings that the fabric reminded me of as my main focus for the mood board.

The paintings I researched showed figures in beautiful draped fabrics. I hope to achieve the same effect with my design by incorporating soft finishing and drape throughout the garment. By doing this I believe I can bring out the mood of calmness that these paintings and fabrics give me.”
