Hoopla

It’s easy to make this simple hoopla game in a few hours with a little bit of help from Resene.

Resene Toys and Games with Mark Rayner - Project 02

Difficulty level: Easy

You will need: Clean cloth, Electric screwdriver with drill bit, Old wooden banister or piece of dowel, Paintbrush, Pencil, Piece of wood or plywood, Plastic hoops, PVA glue, Resene Quick Dry, Resene testpot of Resene Get Reddy, Ruler, Sandpaper, Saw, Screw

To get the look: Mark painted the background pegboard with Resene Enamacryl tinted to Resene Aqua.

Other ideas: For a bright yellow effect, paint the hoopla base and pole with Resene Supernova.

Mark and cut the piece of wood or plywood to make the hoopla base.
Step 2

Sand any rough edges on the hoopla base and lightly sand the wooden banister or piece of dowel. Wipe off any sanding dust with a clean cloth.
Step 3

Mark the central point on the hoopla base, as shown.
Step 4

Drill a pilot hole in the centre of the hoopla base, as shown.
Step 5

Apply some PVA glue around the hole.
Step 6

Fix the hoopla pole to the base with a screw. Allow glue to dry.
Step 7
Step seven
Apply one coat of Resene Quick Dry to the hoopla base and pole, allowing two hours to dry.
Step 8
Step eight
Apply two coats of Resene Get Reddy to the hoopla base and pole, allowing two hours for each coat to dry.
