Stacked succulent planter

Whether it’s an easy-to-make Christmas gift or a stylish centrepiece for a festive outdoor dining table, this simple succulent planter can be put together in an afternoon.

You will need

How to make a stacked planter

 

Step 1 Step one
Apply one coat of Resene Aquapel & Terracotta Sealer to the inside and outside of each terracotta pot and allow to dry.


Step 2 Step two
Apply two coats of Resene Blue Night to the outside and inner rim of the largest terracotta pot, allowing two hours for each coat to dry.


Step 3 Step three
Apply two coats of Resene Hammerhead to the outside and inner rim of the middlesized terracotta pot, allowing two hours for each coat to dry.


Step 4 Step four
Apply two coats of Resene Neutral Bay to the outside and inner rim of the smallest terracotta pot, allowing two hours for each coat to dry.


Step 5 Step five
Loosely fill the largest terracotta pot (to the base of the inner rim) with good quality potting mix.


Step 6 Step six
Place the middle-sized terracotta pot on top of this, as shown, and, in the same way, fill with good quality potting mix.


Step 7 Step seven
Repeat step six using the smallest of the terracotta pots.


Step 8 Step eight
Plant each of the stacked pots with small succulents, as shown.


Step 9 Step nine
Carefully apply a gravel mulch around the base of the succulents, as shown.
