Mark Rayner makes a small, easy-to-build raised bed for veggies, herbs or flowers.
You will need: 31 reclaimed or new retaining wall blocks, timber for edging (we used 50mm x 100mm treated timber), garden pegs or 100mm galvanised nails to fix edging in place, weedmat and weedmat pins or pegs, garden sprayer, craft knife, shovel or spade and rake, good quality potting mix, 40mm stones, flower or veggie seedlings (we used pansies and polyanthus), Resene Moss & Mould Killer and clean water to mix.
To get the look: Mark stained the back-ground fence with Resene Waterborne Woodsman tinted to Resene English Walnut and painted the timber edging with Resene Lumbersider tinted to Resene Alabaster.
Step 1
Prepare an area by removing weeds and levelling the ground. Then fix timber edging into position with garden pegs or by nailing the corners with 100mm nails.
