Charmaine Pomerenke

From the Resene artist's gallery

Charmaine Pomerenke was a co-owner of a fine art gallery when she was inspired to take up painting. She attended weekend workshops, but was drawn to abstract work with 'paint drips'.

Most of her works are created using acrylic paint, including Resene Testpots applied from small squeegee bottles to create the desired effects. Subjects include everything from mountain to sea scenes to abstracts, animals and birds, inspired by Charmaine’s imagination or from photographs taken on her travels around Australia and New Zealand.

Charmaine paints usually loosely, and quite fast, often almost finishing a work in 2-3 hours. She also uses a clear gloss to coat some work and include faux gold foil attached with egg white. Favourite colours are bright tones, reds, blues, yellows, complemented with white, grey greens and black.
