Shabby chic table

Get the distressed look with this elegant shabby chic table.

Resene art with Mark Rayner - Project 03

Difficulty level: Moderate

You will need: Old wooden table, paintbrush, Resene Crackle Effect, Resene Gold Effects, Resene Lumbersider tinted to Resene Havoc, Resene Lumbersider tinted to Resene Negroni, Resene Multishield+ (now Resene Concrete Clear) Flat, Resene Quick Dry Acrylic Primer Undercoat, sandpaper.

To get the look: Mark painted the surrounding wall with Resene SpaceCote Low Sheen tinted to Resene Soft Apple, an authentic traditional colour from the Resene Heritage colour range.

Other ideas: For a more dramatic effect, omit steps seven and eight – the Resene Havoc crackles will really contrast with the Resene Negroni – or try other vibrant colour combinations such as Resene Supernova/Resene Nero, Resene Turbo/Resene Blackcurrant or Resene Sail/ Resene Space Cadet.

Step 1
Step one
Sand the table to remove any old paint or varnish.
Step 2

Step 6
Step six

Step 8
Step eight
Mix one part Multishield+ Flat (now Resene Concrete Clear) with one part Resene Gold Effects and apply one light coat to the table. Allow to dry thoroughly before using the table.
