Resene kids art with Mark Rayner - Project 116

Difficulty level: Moderate

You will need: Ice block stick for stirring paint, Paintbrush, Parcel tape Scissors or craft knife, Small cardboard box, Resene Art Action Quick Dry, Resene testpots of Resene Bullion and Resene Porsche

Top tip: If you want a shiny finish to your money box, apply two coats of Resene Art Action gloss over the final coat of paint and allow two hours for each coat to dry.

Here's another idea: This nifty money box was made from a cardboard coffee cup using a basecoat of Resene Wild West and two topcoats of Resene Copper Fire.

Another idea: Use a coffee cup

Step one
Carefully tape along the joins of the cardboard box to create a neat finish.

Step two
Cut a slot in the top using scissors or a craft knife - you might need a grown up to help with this bit.

Step three
Fold some small sections of tape around the cut slot, as shown. Again, this will create a neat finish.

Step four
Apply one coat of Resene Quick Dry to the money box and allow two hours to dry.

Step five
Apply one coat of Resene Porsche to the money box and allow two hours to dry.

Step six
Carefully stir the Resene Bullion with an ice block stick and apply two coats to the money box, allowing two hours for each coat to dry. Now get saving!
