Resene kids art with Mark Rayner - Project 20

Difficulty level: Challenging

You will need: Damp cloth, Old wooden chair, Paintbrushes, Resene Quick Dry acrylic primer undercoat, Resene testpots in the following colours: Resene Alabaster (x2) and Resene Black, Resene Multishield+ gloss (now Resene Concrete Clear), Sandpaper

Top tip: The metal legs of our chair were already painted black, but if you need to paint yours, get an adult to undercoat them first with Resene Galvo One primer.

Here's another idea: Get a cool circus look using testpots of Resene Black, Resene Bright Spark, Resene Bright Red and Resene Curious Blue.

Step 1
Step one
Carefully sand the back and seat of the wooden chair (you might need some help from a grownup with this). Wipe down with a damp cloth.
Step 2
Step two
Apply one coat of Resene Quick Dry acrylic primer undercoat to the back and seat of the chair. Allow at least one hour to dry.
Step 3Step three
Paint the back and seat of the chair with two coats of Resene Alabaster, allowing two hours to dry between coats.
Step 4
Step four
Using a smaller brush, carefully paint zebra stripes using Resene Black.
Step 5
Step five
Once dry (after about 2 hours), apply a second coat of Resene Black to the stripes. Allow to dry.
Step 6
Step six
Apply two coats of Resene Multishield+ gloss (now Resene Concrete Clear) to the back and seat of the chair, allowing two hours to dry between coats.
