Resene kids art with Mark Rayner - Project 28

Difficulty level: Challenging

You will need: Fish fridge magnets, Paintbrushes, Piece of MDF, Resene Magnetic Magic paint, Resene Quick Dry waterborne primer undercoat, Resene testpots in the following colours: Resene Gulf Stream, Resene Moccaccino, Resene Porsche and Resene Tree Frog

Top tip: Magnetic fish fridge magnets can be found in most discount stores.

Here's another idea: This colourful magnetic fishbowl was painted with Resene Get Reddy, Resene Surfie Green, Resene Desperado, Resene All Black and Resene House White.

Step one
Prime the piece of MDF with one coat of Resene Quick Dry. Allow to dry for about an hour.

Step two
Paint the MDF with two coats of Resene Magnetic Magic – allow at least two hours to dry between coats.

Step three
Paint the board with two coats of Resene Gulf Stream, allowing two hours to dry between coats.

Step four
Paint the seabed with two coats of Resene Porsche, allowing two hours to dry between coats.

Step five
Use a smaller brush to paint the seaweed with Resene Tree Frog. Allow to dry.

Step six
Paint small stones on the seabed with Resene Moccaccino. Once it’s dry, hang your masterpiece in position and let the fish magnets go swimming...
