Have fun creating this feathery bird picture with the help of a few Resene Testpots.

Resene kids art with Mark Rayner - Project 47

Difficulty level: Moderate

You will need: Artists’ canvas board, Coloured feathers, Paintbrushes (including artists’ brushes), PVA glue, Resene Testpots in the following colours: Resene Galliano, Resene Nero, Resene Resolution Blue and Resene Wham

Top tip: Coloured feathers like these can be bought at most craft shops.

Here's another idea: How about a furry cat face? Here the board was painted with Resene Havoc and the eyes and mouth with Resene Soft Apple. Once the feathers were stuck on, the cat’s eyes were finished off with two pieces of paua shell.

Step one
Paint the canvas board with two coats of Resene Resolution Blue and allow two hours for each coat to dry.

Step two
Using a fairly thick artists’ brush, paint the outline of a large bird using Resene Nero. Allow to dry for two hours.

Step three
Paint the body of the bird with two coats of Resene Wham and paint the beak and eye with two coats of Resene Galliano. Allow two hours for each coat to dry

Step four
Glue coloured feathers to the body of the bird using PVA glue. Allow to dry thoroughly before hanging on your wall – what a masterpiece!
