Resene kids art with Mark Rayner - Project 61

Difficulty level: Moderate

You will need: Artists’ brushes, Pipe cleaner, PVA glue, Resene Art Action Quick Dry waterborne primer undercoat, Resene Testpots of Resene Alabaster, Resene Black and Resene New York Pink, Scissors, Wooden clothes peg

Top tip: Wooden clothes pegs and pipe cleaners are available at most craft shops.

Here's another idea: Create your own Little Red Riding Hood in the same way using Resene Alabaster, Resene Black and Resene Guardsman Red.

Step one
Cut the pipe cleaner in half with the scissors and bend it around the peg to form the arms of the rugby star, as shown. Fix into position with a little PVA, and allow the glue to dry.

Step two
Paint the whole rugby star with one coat of Resene Art Action Quick Dry and allow to dry for two hours

Step three
Paint the head, hands and legs of the rugby star with two coats of Resene New York Pink, allowing two hours for each coat to dry.

Step four
Paint his jersey, shorts, boots and face details with Resene Black, allowing two hours for each coat to dry. Finish off, using Resene Alabaster, with highlights in his eyes and a team logo on his jersey. What a score!
