It’s easy to turn a plain papier-mâché mask into a purr-fect masterpiece with a little bit of help from Resene.

Resene kids art with Mark Rayner - Project 99

Difficulty level: Easy

You will need: Paintbrushes (including an artists’ brush), Papier-mâché cat mask (ours came from ‘Spotlight’), Resene Art Action Quick Dry, Resene testpots in the following colours: Resene Bowie, Resene Nero and Resene Tapestry

Top tip: If you don’t have a papier-mâché mask, simply cut out a cat face from a piece of strong cardboard.

Step one
Paint the cat mask with one coat of Resene Art Action Quick Dry and allow two hours to dry.

Step two
Apply two coats of Resene Bowie to the mask, allowing two hours for each coat to dry.

Step three
Paint the inner ears and nose of the cat with two coats of Resene Tapestry, allowing two hours for each coat to dry.

Step four
Paint the remaining face details with Resene Nero, as shown, and allow two hours to dry. What a cool cat!
