Space
Every house party needs space for guests. Rearrange your furniture so that it is open and inclusive, encouraging them to mingle. This could mean moving couches to outer walls, adding beanbags and extra seats or opening up the veranda sliding door to include outside as a party space.
Redecorate
Does your living room have wooden floors? Now is a great last-minute opportunity to sand down the scratches, clean them up and then restain with a new coat of paint. Then spruce the room up with some new year's decorations, such as banners, party streamers and other fun items.
Countdown
A New Year's countdown is important for the celebrations. Do you have a radio or TV that people can gather around in a space large enough? Try having an open floor area so people can clink glasses and kiss each other.
