Background to mural creation:
The mural visually promotes their bi-cultural programme, supporting their commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi. The playground is shared by all the children – kindergarten from 2^1/2 - 4 years old through to Form 2 - 12 year olds. This project allowed everyone to participate in creating it and to have a sense of ownership and pride in the space. The mural was used a learning tool to inspire learning. The end result is a unique taonga that can be enjoyed by the wider community who use this space outside of school hours.
