Mural theme:
Flora and fauna; a detailed and colourful interpretation of local and native flora and fauna are juxtaposed against the simple stain line and shaded background of a fanciful journey into the past; with a castle and temple representing our ancestral Celtic, European and Asian/African connections. A Mania (in ancient store) and a Moa from our ancestral New Zealand connections. The mural encompasses several cut-out sections that enable children, parents and teachers to gaze through into the NOW… and down upon the new pathway and native plantings that lead to the HereHere stream. A set of hinged plywood doors, painted as cathedral-styled stained glass windows can be opened to further encourage the viewing of the Journey Beyond.

Background to mural creation:
The mural is part of a continuing development of the sustainability philosophy at Lucknow Kindergarten. This fence was created using marine plywood cut-outs, painted then glued into the tanalised plywood background.
