Background to mural creation:
The mural is for the new fence to be built behind the existing bush shelter.  The new fence is for the Learning Support Centre.  The mural not only enhances the environment but it also reflects the name of the unit 'Te Whare Pukeone' and shows where the name was derived from.  The high position of Mt Campbell/Pukeone shows how the school is under/shadowed by the mountain.  The two people are Te Puke o Rauone and her husband, the first Maori people to come to this area.  On the right is their waka that they travelled in.
