Background to mural creation:
Recently the school has constructed school gardens. The area needed brightening up as they were wanting the space to be utilised as an area for playing, reading, talking, etc. A team of fourteen teachers worked with their classes to create the mural. They chose a New Zealand theme and each teacher selected a native bird and flower or tree. The boards themes are: fern and kiwi, kowhai and tui, karaka and wood pigeon, southern rata and fantail, flax and pukeko, and flax and waxeye.
