Background to mural creation:
This freestanding mural is of the school pepeha. It greets visitors and our school community as they enter the centre of our grounds and is in an area that is soon to be cleared to make a relaxing garden for our students. Each section represents each line of the pepeha: our maunga (mountain), our awa (river), our moana (sea), our whenua (land) and our kura (school). The images and details all relate to local history, nature detail and special locations in our peninsula.
