Mural theme:
Strength in Christ.
Background to mural creation:
The school wanted a mural to represent the special character of our school.
The tree, which the cross is grafted into and the strong roots is to represent our foundation and value in Christ. The pebbles at the base show our different identities, supporting each other to stand firm against the storms (swirls) that we face in life. Through finding our purpose in this world, we have a promise of peace and hope, portrayed by the dove. Finally, there is our school motto, ‘Teach me thy way – Whakaakona ahau ki au” to show how strength through trying times is accomplished by learning to walk together in Christ. This mural has taught us not only skills involved in painting, but has also brought us closer together as friends. We hope it brings joy to those who visit our school.
