Mural Masterpieces - South New Brighton School - Pool Mural

South New Brighton School MuralLocation: South New Brighton School, Estuary Road, South New Brighton, Christchurch.

Team:
Zoe Chappell (key designer), Brooke Mather, Millie Boland (key designer), Lauren Vant Veen, Isaac Sutherland (key designer), Rachel Hyett (key designer), Findlay Johnston, Paige March and Janet Jones-Poole (parent help).

Accessible to public:
Yes.

Mural theme:
Seaside School using New Zealand and Pacific themes.

Background to mural creation:
The entry to the school pool was drab and uninviting, the concrete blocks were mouldy and plain. The school was devoid of child created work, so it was time to get the children involved in a mural project to enhance the surroundings and make it the children's school. The seahorse motif was chosen by the children as it was the school symbol forming the basis of the mural.
