Paint an entertainment unit

Fun with furniture with Mark Rayner - Project 55

Difficulty level: Easy

You will need: Clean cloth, hammer, MDF shelving unit, nail punch, paintbrush, paint stirrer, putty knife or similar, Resene EzyFill Quick, Resene Lustacryl tinted to Resene Alabaster, Resene Quick Dry, sandpaper.

To get the look: Mark varnished the wooden floor with Resene Polythane.

Other ideas: For a bold black effect paint the MDF unit with Resene Lustacryl tinted to Resene Nero.

Step 1 Step one
Carefully punch any nail heads in the MDF unit.
Step 2 Step two
Fill the nail holes with Resene EzyFill Quick and allow to dry.
Step 3 Step three
Sand the filler and wipe off any sanding residue with a clean cloth.
Step 4 Step four
Carefully stir the Resene Quick Dry.
Step 5 Step five
Apply one coat of Resene Quick Dry to the MDF unit and allow two hours to dry.
Step 6 Step six
Carefully stir the Resene Lustacryl tinted to Resene Alabaster.
Step 7 Step seven
Apply one coat of Resene Lustacryl tinted to Resene Alabaster to the MDF unit and allow two hours to dry.
Step 8 Step eight
Apply a second coat of Resene Lustacryl tinted to Resene Alabaster to the MDF unit and allow two hours to dry.
