Give an old bentwood chair a colourful new lease of life with a little bit of help from Resene.
Ways with wood with Mark Rayner - Project 66
Difficulty level: Moderate
To get the look: Mark painted the background walls with Resene SpaceCote Flat tinted to Resene Saltpan and Resene Paua.
Other ideas: For a bright orange effect paint the chair with Resene Lustacryl tinted to Resene Adrenalin.
Step one
Working on a small area at a time, spray the bentwood chair with Resene Interior Paintwork Cleaner.
Step two
Rub thoroughly with a clean cloth to remove any dust and dirt. Continue until the whole chair is clean.
Step three
Lightly sand the bentwood chair to ‘key’ the paint surface.
Step four
Wipe off any sanding residue with a clean cloth.
Step five
Carefully stir the Resene Quick Dry.
Step six
Apply one coat of Resene Quick Dry to the bentwood chair and allow to dry.
Step seven
Carefully stir the Resene Lustacryl tinted to Resene Hashtag.
Step eight
Apply two coats of Resene Lustacryl tinted to Resene Hashtag to the bentwood chair, allowing two hours for each coat to dry.
