From Habitat plus - wallpaper

Add a little old world charm to your home with whimsical designs that hark back to simpler times.

Choose from patterns reminiscent of 19th century newspapers, tapestry-style designs to vintage flower patterns and designs that nod to Victorian artist and textile designer, William Morris. There are also pieces inspired by 18th century British architect and painter William Kent as well as Art Nouveau artist Alphonse Mucha, famed for his romanticised illustrations of women. What was once chintz is the new chic – these designs comfort with their familiarity while opening our eyes to new possibilities.

Did you know?  Retro Chintz patterns date back to the 1600s, originating from Calicut in India. Like many wallpaper designs, they had their origins as a textile and were originally made from glazed calico and often printed with large flower patterns. The designs became popular in Europe in the 17th century and were highly sought after in the court of Versailles. The style has gone in and out of favour over the years, but now chintz is back in a big way.
