Three room start

This initial renovation took in three bedrooms, with other rooms to be tackled as time and finances allow.

The first room was the former baby room, which the children outgrew and is now a room fit for an adult. This was Petra’s first attempt at wallpapering. With a wallpaper feature wall of Manhattan 2683-41 wallpaper from Resene and its black and white branches and a combination of Resene Rice Cake and Resene Quarter Rice Cake for walls and sills etc, the room looks fresh and inviting. She loves it. The room has a touch of red, with funky red lamps and souvenir cushions from Saudi Arabia.

The boys moved into a larger room which is now Resene Half Pattens Blue and it makes the room appear larger. Storage space below a bench seat means they can utilise the space beneath the window, which had been a wall to wall desk before, making the room very closed in. The edges and sills are Resene Quarter Rice Cake. Rob McGregor prints and a striped rug brighten up this room.

Their daughter now has a room of her own, painted in Resene Cavern Pink. The back wall is Resene Blackboard Paint (deep pink). The desk, sill and edges have been painted in Resene Quarter Rice Cake. Tigger and Bambi & Faline adorn her walls (painted by Petra) as well as some flower decals.

Petra took the advice of creating a mood book, which helped hugely in the choosing of the colours. The boys would like football player silhouettes on their wall, which is Petra’s next challenge.
