Punchy colour to cook with

They first tackled the design and colour of the kitchen which would then determine the rest of the décor. Janice wanted a real punchy colour in the kitchen and having discussed the design with the kitchen maker she then chose Resene Scarlet Gum for the purple and Resene Stack for the grey. She also arranged for the glass splashback to be painted Resene Scarlet Gum for both the kitchen itself and also fronting the island.

It was decided that they would rip out the entire fireplace and replace it with a very contemporary tiled modern design using a wide crystal stone gas fireplace. The walls were painted Resene Double Sea Fog and ceiling Resene Alabaster to complement this. This gave a very soft contrast to the kitchen area and complemented the soft greys of the Italian leather furniture and white glass table.

Keeping the theme of soft greys in the entrance hall, there is a huge butterfly rug using art silks and wool in silver greys, pale blues deepening to blacks and dark midnight blues on a soft cream background. This is also teamed with walls in Resene Double Sea Fog and a ceiling in Resene Alabaster.

When it came to the Media room this was a clinical white space with no feature. Having found a textured wallpaper in Resene they set about putting in a chair rail so that we could wallpaper above it and paint below it. The colours used were Resene Half Malta and Resene Nero for the chair rail. This brought out the black frames of the Hollywood prints but still gave the room a warm cosy feel.
