The McGuinness family bought a sorely neglected but grand and very large old lady from the 1900s as their first home. Over four months they rolled up their sleeves with the intent to return her to her former beauty. It’s been hard work but an exciting journey.
The inside was monotone and very shabby but the help of Gisborne Resene ColorShop staff they have added colour to the walls and made the house more homely and bright.
As a neutral base for most internal walls they used Resene Villa White and Resene Alabaster for the ceilings and door frames.
The feature walls are where they added colour: Resene Loulou has given the master bedroom the colour of passion and luxury they were after while Resene Shady Lady keeps the office/spare bedroom calm and serene. The lounge is now warm with the vibrant colour of Resene Pohutukawa red which beautifully accentuates the original 1900s fireplace and decorative glass door.
The kitchen is now clean and crisp using Resene Ash walls with Resene Alabaster trim and the old Matai wooden floor has been re-sanded and finished with Resene Polythane. It has given it a beautiful, glossy and hard wearing finish.
Their next mission is to repaint the very large exterior with Resene paint!
